It’s time to renew our commitment to Central Kitsap students.
Our schools are our community’s greatest investment. Every few years, Central Kitsap School District asks its voters to re-approve a school support levy. This support levy pays for everything from classroom instruction and operations to classroom technology.
Funds from these levies cover many critical services, including:
Technology
Transportation
School Nurses
Arts, Athletics & Clubs
Special Education Services
Safety
Your “YES” vote renews this commitment at the current rate of $1.50 per $1,000 assessed. The costs covered by these levies are not funded by the State of Washington. Students rely on these local levy dollars. Please renew this important funding.

On April 23, 2024, Central Kitsap School District voters will be asked to renew the School Support Levy. This levy has been in place for almost 30 years. Central Kitsap School District is asking for a renewal.
What is a levy? How is this different from construction bonds?
Put simply, levies are for learning. While bonds build new schools, levies fill the costs – from classroom instruction to maintenance – that allow students to learn across all Central Kitsap schools.
Doesn’t the state cover these costs?
Surprisingly, no. Local school districts cover many costs not paid by the state. For instance, the vast majority of school nurses in Washington State (and Central Kitsap School District) are funded by local levies. All told, about 10% of school funding is covered by local levies.
Will this measure raise the tax rate?
No. This measure simply replaces the old levy. The tax rate will remain at $1.50 per $1,000 assessed value.
I’m still not quite sure…
